Helping to build the top team of a leading pharmaceuticals company
When, after three months of fruitless searching, a leading Scotland-based pharmaceuticals company failed to find a senior consultant programme manager, the company turned to Quanta.
The senior consultant programme manager was needed for a key role – to head up a key project for a specific period. After three months of working with their local recruitment providers, it was clear that external help was needed to identify and recruit a candidate of the right calibre.
The recruitment had some specific challenges. First and foremost, it was a geographically challenging location, where most recruitment companies would simply fail due to lack of contacts or local knowledge. Second, finding a candidate of the required experience, within that location, would be extremely tough.
Quanta began by working closely with the client to obtain a clearer and more detailed understanding of the role – and what would be required of the candidate. A two-person team was then appointed, to undertake research within Quanta’s global network of highly skilled engineers – in effect, hunting for the right person by talking to a large number of people within the same industry.
In just one week, Quanta had identified an individual who had previously worked with the client for seventeen years – but was now working on an assignment for a competitor. However, although the candidate was perfect, the location was still a problem – as the candidate did not live anywhere close to commuting distance to the client’s place of work.
Quanta was able to resolve this, by finding and securing accommodation for the client, and his family – and he was able to commence work within a month of Quanta being engaged.
The contract has now been extended twice, to enable further work to be undertaken with the same client. In addition, Quanta has been able to successfully fulfil 70% of the company’s requirements for skilled people.
