Enabling a major US systems integrator to grow business opportunities rapidly across Europe

When a US-based systems integrator wanted to implement the Europe-wide start-up of a ‘next generation network’, it needed around 350 people, at short notice – in a region where it did not have HR resources.

The company turned to Quanta with a significant number of recruitment and resourcing issues. The company needed its own, small, UK-based team to be supported as it won and delivered new business using leads, products and services from the US.

It was projected that, over an 18-month period, up to 350 people would be required to meet the company’s business plan. People would be needed quickly, often the next day, in another country – and the company would need 24/7 support. With no HR resource in the UK, Quanta was engaged to help support the company.

Quanta was able to commit to finding the client senior people, at a fixed price – with review processes in place to cater for under- and overusage.

Actions taken included:

  • Discovery and planning workshop to identify needs and scope the solution
  • Definition and implementation of resourcing processes, with 24-hour access to resourcers
  • Created master resource schedule and used simulated profiling models to project and assess requirements
  • Created network of preferred suppliers across Europe to best support the need for rapid resource in different countries
  • Created a resource pool of programme managers – people who were trained and could be called on at short notice
  • Supported the recruitment of the sales and bid-management team
  • Defined processes to convert contract and external positions into permanent roles

Results included:

  • The business achieved 175% of its target in the first year
  • The client was able to build a visible pipeline, and the resources to support it, within 6 months
  • The client was able to focus on its core business
  • The client was able to switch 35% of its time to strategic issues from managing operational activities
  • The time taken to find the highest priority people was maintained at between 24 and 36 hours
