Helping a global pharmaceuticals company to bring a new production facility on line

When a global pharmaceuticals company, based in the UK, was building a new production facility – to come on line in 2008-09 – they realised that they would need to run both the current and new facilities at the same time if they were to maintain their business.

The obvious issue was that their staff could not work in two places at once, so, for a temporary but extended period (of around two years), many additional people would be required to keep the launch of the new facility on track.

The plan was to move their current teams over to the new facility in a planned and controlled manner – without losing production from the old facility. To ensure that this happened, their positions would need to be backfilled by contract workers as each team moved and was bedded in.

Quanta worked on an exclusive basis with the client to formulate a workable and affordable solution. This involved moving people to the new location and providing the in-depth training to enable them to work with their new facilities.

Quanta then identified and sourced the teams required to backfill the roles of the permanent team – and a team of fifteen quality specialists to help complete the programme of work to the highest standards.

Work is currently ongoing but is progressing very well, with the client providing excellent and positive feedback about the work undertaken so far.

Where most recruitment companies would simply have seen the project as an opportunity to place as many people as possible, Quanta was able to put in place a controlled plan that kept costs under control and still provided the required momentum for the project to be a success.
