An experienced Commercial Development Analyst Developer with proven C#.Net development skills is needed to join the IS department of an international Energy Trading company here in the UK. You will be aligned to the company`s Trading Desks and have a development focus on trade capture, position & P&L, decision support & market data based applications. This is a contract technical role which provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, analytical individual to join a leading organisation at the forefront of energy trading.
Key accountabilities
- The team manages & develops trading & market data systems for the different trading desks within front office.
- Key system is the ``Commercial Desktop`` – an integrated trade management system for Front Office.
- Primarily Microsoft technology driven, you will help manage a framework of systems including web services, MS SQL / Oracle databases and front end web / client applications.
- You will have regular interaction with Traders & Analysts in regards to development and support activities
- You will be required to analyse situations quickly to provide both tactical and strategic solutions.
- You will be working in an Agile project environment
Skills needed
- You should have a good understanding of the UK physical energy markets and have experience of working in a (Energy) Trading environment
- You should be able to work to tight deadlines, under pressure and flexibly.
- Extensive application development using Microsoft .Net technologies & SQL Server 2005/8 is essential -Microsoft: .Net to v4, C#, ASP.NET & WinForms.
- C# asp.net web solutions for analysis/presentation of market data.
- Development/enhancements of c#.net thick client applications.
- Experience with Market Information Systems (REUTERS, broker screens).
- SCRUM or a similar `agile` methodology, Continuous Integration and Build, Mocking Frameworks, Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development is preferred
- Strong knowledge of Information Systems within either a Commodity Trading (preferable) or Financial derivatives markets.
- Good understanding of OpenLink Endur, or alternative ETRM system, would be advantageous but not essential.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills for complex problem/issue resolution.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, and be fully experienced at dealing with technical and business representatives at all levels.
- This role is part of a fast paced team so you must be able to work with dynamic requirements in a changing environment.
- You must be able and willing to travel and work in Europe as some time spent in Germany will be required.
