My client is a global neuroscience – based, Biotech Company based in the centre of Ireland and are currently recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer at their manufacturing facility in Athlone. As a company they are involved in discovering, developing, manufacturing and marketing advanced therapies in neurology and autoimmune diseases.
Key areas of job accountability
- Provide technical leadership to support to engineers, user departments and maintenance as required on control systems.
- Co-ordinate and manage control system projects.
- Liaise and communicate with site users and vendors to ensure control systems operate to maximum effect.
- Ensure all work carried out and systems installed are safe, effective and in compliance with industry standards by thorough commissioning of systems.
- Prepare and implement procedures and work instructions to ensure proper management of control systems in line with industry standards (cGMP’s, GAMP, etc..).
- Assist in the design and development of control systems for the introduction of new technology and preparation for future requirements.
- Ensure all work undertaken is reflected accurately in Engineering files.
- Prepare specifications, protocols, procedures and other documentation as required.
- Play appropriate role in the development, operation and evaluation of GMP training/re-training programmes.
- In relation to area of responsibility, ensure that training carried out is in accordance with the training plan/specific training needs, documented, tracked, evaluated.
- Assist in ensuring that current compliance issues and trends, both internal and site-wide, are critically evaluated and training is provided where appropriate.
Requirements
- A third level degree in an engineering or computer discipline
- Strong knowledge of industrial controls systems (e.g. programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, building management systems, loop controllers)
- Extensive experience ideally gained within a high volume, dynamic, pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
- High level of customer orientation/understanding
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate under pressure
- Willingness to take a “hand-on” approach
- Ability to coach and instruct others
