One of the UK`s leading renewable energy developers and operators, and is the UK subsidiary of specialist renewable energy who develops, builds and operates offshore wind farms along the coasts of several European countries are looking for an Engineering Manager.  The Engineering Manager will take overall responsibility for the technical design of a project and the decisions undertaken to manage and mitigate technical project risks. Within his project role as a Technical Interface Manager, the successful applicant forms part of the Project Core Team, reporting within the project organisation to the Senior Project Manager.

Principle accountabilities

  • Functional management of a team of multidisciplinary engineers
  • Responsible for a coherent functional design of the wind farm as a system and high quality engineering output across the project
  • Directing project engineering strategy, providing technical oversight and guidance of engineering activities with due regard to project schedule
  • Defining and managing technical interfaces between contract packages, considering design, operability, constructability and safety aspects
  • Ensuring compliance with the CDM regulations and industry best practice in design
  • Commissioning technical reviews and signing off technical decision
  • Responsible for the design certification process
  • Implementing engineering procedures and managing engineering budget
  • Establishment and supervision of engineering management processes
  • Technical input into project contract strategy
  • Management of consultant subcontractor framework contracts
  • Technical supervision of contractors during design, fabrication and installation

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • University degree or comparable graduate education in a relevant engineering discipline, e.g. civil or (offshore) structural engineering
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, innovative and capable of strategic thinking
  • Excellent management skills including organisational ability, communications and social skills with the ability to work effectively within a multicultural project team and liaise with all levels of the business on both a technical and managerial level
  • Having a strong drive to deliver results, persistent in overcoming obstacles and eager to take responsibility for making things happen
  • Fluent in English speaking / writing

Experience

  • Extensive previous experience in the role of engineering manager or similar equivalent role
  • Track record in working on major (multi-contract) construction projects
  • Experience in the renewable, power generation or oil & gas industry
  • Experience in the design and construction of offshore technologies such as marine, oil and gas or preferably offshore renewables
