People at Quanta: Olivia
Olivia Graham has always worked within contract administration, yet she says her role at Quanta is unlike any she’s had before. She’s been with the company since early 2016 and has already made her mark on the company, fitting in perfectly with the workplace culture and demonstrating a brilliant skill set that has been an asset to our office. As part of our ongoing People at Quanta series, we spoke to Olivia about her journey with Quanta so far.
What made you apply for a role at Quanta?
“I actually came across the job ad on LinkedIn. I was looking to step up from my then-position as a Contract Administrator at another recruitment agency, where I was unable to further progress my role. I was really looking for a new challenge and more development than that role could offer me, and after researching Quanta, I realised it was going to open doors.
The global nature of the company means that we work with people all over the world, so we learn so much more about how industries work across different countries. In my previous roles I had always worked with contractors in the UK only, so this was a great opportunity to expand my skillset.”
Why do you love working at Quanta?
“The people and the atmosphere are uniquely brilliant. We all get on so well as a company and the culture is really important to Quanta - management are really interested in hiring people who are the right fit for the company. It’s not cliquey and everyone genuinely gets on well with each other. It’s such a lovely environment to work in.
I also really enjoy the work that I do. I love coming in and knowing that no two days are the same. In my previous positions, the work became monotonous, but this is the first place I’ve come into where every day really is different. I’m never bored and as I’m working with people overseas, I’ve gained a huge international knowledge on the systems and processes that different countries use. I’ve been allowed plenty of room to grow and develop, and I really feel believed in.”
How have you developed since working here?
“The training is great at Quanta. My progress is always monitored and I’m encouraged to strive to do different things. We have an external compliance trainer on call and Lee, my manager, is a fountain of knowledge. Between him and our dedicated training sessions, I feel really supported.
The type of recruitment we do at Quanta – within Life Sciences, Renewable Energy and ICT – is really varied and has lots of scope, so we encounter all sorts of people. On top of that, I’ve learnt a lot about the industries we work in, and I learn more every day. The great thing about Quanta is that you feel like an integral part of the business even if you’re not in sales, as everyone’s work is celebrated and rewarded. It’s so important for everyone to feel included and appreciated, but in previous roles I’ve seen back office teams fall by the wayside.”
What does your role involve?
“The main role of a Contract Administrator is to write contracts when deals are placed. These get sent out to contractors, who can then direct any contract queries through to me. Since I’ve been here, my role has expanded so now I’m also working and checking things on our backend system, along with completing compliance work and performing audits. My work involves a lot of administration, such as checking contracts sent over from clients and ensuring everything is posted out in an efficient manner.”
What would you be doing if you weren’t working in this industry?
“If I wasn’t a Contracts Administrator I would probably own a record shop or be a DJ.”
