People at Quanta: Emma
Our team at Quanta comes from a range of backgrounds, from acting and retail through to the more traditional routes of sales and recruiting. Our Delivery Team Leader, Emma Fowler, has taken the latter route, but her experience within Quanta has been anything but standard.
A self-confessed driven worker, Emma has quickly climbed the ranks from a Delivery Executive 1 to her current role of Delivery Team Leader in the space of just 14 months. Here’s how she did it.
From university to the shop floor
After graduating with a psychology degree in 2013, Emma was motivated to launch her career as soon as possible. She spent a year working as a store manager in retail, picking up crucial sales skills and people management prowess. Motivated by recruitment’s earning potential, she then moved into a 360 recruitment sector role, before developing the desire to join a company within an interesting industry and a clear opportunity for progression. Quanta offered both of these things.
Just three years after graduating university, Emma joined Quanta as a Delivery Executive 1. Within nine months she’d been promoted to a Delivery Executive 2, and just a few months later had progressed to the Delivery Team Leader role.
While working in the DE capacity, Emma was applying her sales experience to manage one of Quanta’s accounts, developing new skills in sales and resourcing on top of her DE responsibilities. Her enthusiasm and capability were noticed within the business, and her new role now sees her manage a team of five Delivery Executives – the role she started in just over a year ago.
Quanta has a history of recognising and rewarding potential, and Emma’s progression within the company is testament to this. She’s currently completing the Fast Track to Future Leadership programme, which sees her take one day each month to focus on her development, after completing a previous Fast Track programme.
Nurturing new talent
Emma was interested in developing her career in an area outside of sales, so she was pleased to find that Quanta offers many different routes to go down as you further your career. This differs from other recruitment agencies where sales is the favoured path to progression.
As Delivery Team Leader, Emma thrives on the communication and support she nurtures in her team. She enjoys instilling her own motivation in others, and appreciates the autonomy and trust the company provides her with to be able to do this. She’s looking forward to continuing her development with Quanta, and the company’s high levels of staff retention reflect this.
Quanta does it differently
Emma’s progression shows not only her passion and abilities, but also highlights the development opportunities available at Quanta.
“The training we provide here is exceptional,” says Emma. “You’re also allowed the time to get to know your industry and get to know your clients. We spend a lot of time learning from candidates and make sure they are right for opportunities before referring them onto clients”.
With a more autonomous, collaborative approach than many others in the industry, Quanta isn’t a typical recruitment company. “There’s no micro managing, it’s not highly KPI driven, and you sit down with your manager each month and work together to set realistic targets,” says Emma.
An environment worth coming to work for
The best thing about working at Quanta is the environment and culture, says Emma. While the whole team works hard, they’re also encouraged to have fun, with social nights out, barbeques and weekends away. It’s not just the top performers who are rewarded for their efforts – the entire company enjoys competitions, prizes and recognition.
"I travel over an hour each way to and from work, and I wouldn’t do that for any other company – I do it because I love my job”.
Does Quanta sound like the kind of place you’d like to work at? We’re always looking for motivated and talented new starters, so get in touch with us here to find out more.
