This is where Lloyd Campbell
comes in. With his genuine love of relationship building and enthusiasm for the renewables market, he’s an ideal fit for the role of Principal Consultant within our renewables team. He explains why he loves Quanta, recruitment and renewables:
“I have a sales background but was looking for more from an employer”
After making a career out of selling cars, Lloyd found himself wanting a change of scene. His company was a huge global organisation that lacked the personal touch, and Lloyd wanted to join a business that had more family values and an emphasis on people development. After a friend told him about Quanta, Lloyd said it all sounded a bit too good to be true but submitted his CV and after successfully completing the interview stage, found himself starting as a Delivery Executive in April 2018.
“Quanta has lived up to my expectations”
Despite being sceptical about whether Quanta could live up to the expectations his friend set, Lloyd has enjoyed every moment of his time at Quanta. Describing it as a global organisation that still has that family-run aspect he was looking for, Lloyd believes Quanta’s emphasis on training and development is unlike anywhere else in the industry. Working his way from Delivery Executive to Delivery Executive to Principal consultant, Lloyd has taken part in Quanta’s bespoke and Award winning Fast Track training programme, which he says is constantly evolving and improving as more people pass through Quanta’s ranks.
“My role is all about building relationships”
After experiencing success as a Delivery Executive – securing seven individuals new project opportunities in one month and becoming one of the top resourcers in the team – Lloyd was keen to get stuck into sales. He thrives off communication and building relationships, which is key in a role where he is constantly seeking out connections in offshore wind, whether that’s operators, developers or those within the supply chain. Describing his role as ‘helping rather than selling’, Lloyd takes a calm and conversational approach to his work, trying to establish rapport and develop long-term connections.
“Offshore wind is constantly expanding and growing”
Lloyd loves the ‘mix of characters’ who operate within offshore wind, saying he thoroughly enjoys meeting and speaking with those within the industry. With clients all over the world and a blend of cultures, personalities and approaches to deal with, no two days are the same.
Lloyd’s role has taken him to Belgium, Germany and Denmark so far, where he’s thrived on meeting his network face to face and gaining first-hand experience of what’s happening in offshore wind. With the USA offshore wind industry now taking off, Lloyd is hopeful that his career will take him even further afield in the future. Embedding himself in the offshore wind market and establishing deep relationships within the industry, Lloyd is excited to see what happens in renewable energy next.
“There’s no limit to what you can achieve at Quanta”
When asked why he loves working at Quanta, the answers come easily. Lloyd points to the culture of achievement, where he says team members are encourage the develop and achieve as much as they can. He also says there’s a strong sense of ‘bring yourself to work’, where everyone is encouraged to be themselves and approach things in their own way. This, says Lloyd, is critical to his success in sales. In addition, the focus on ongoing development is a highlight for Lloyd, who says he now has a clear vision for his future at Quanta and within the renewable energy market.
