Head of Automation - Biologics Manufacturer - Hertfordshire

Do you relish the opportunity to work with a leading UK based Biologics manufacturer?  If yes, then this is the assignment for you!

Our biotech client with manufacturing facilities just outside London is currently investing significantly in their manufacturing programme.  This state-of-the-art facility houses high-technology and next-gen processes to produce drugs that are distributed throughout the Globe. The site is easily reachable by two major airports and has excellent transport links throughout.

The client is currently seeking the expertise of a Head of Automation!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for this Head of Automation role include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Direction the technical activities of the staff to achieve business objectives
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the team and extended team to develop skills and knowledge
  • Develop a capable team to establish a strong and robust succession plain with and potentially outside the function
  • Technical lead on control and automation projects providing best practice and compliance
  • Provide engineering support to commissioning and validation initiatives
Desirable Experience:
  • Batchelors Degree or higher in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Production regulated industry experience, min 5 years, experience in in a cGMP manufacturing automation position
  • Expert of knowledge of GAMP, GMP Volume 4 Annex11 and 21 CRF 11; and strong understanding of cGMP and GEP
  • Proven experience with control and automation systems specification, programming and optimisation (PLC, SCADA, Loop controllers, Siemens S7, PCS7)
  • Proven experience in all aspects associated with PLC, SCADA, S88, S95 within a cGMP regulated environment
  • 3 years or more of direct people management experience
  • Demonstratable experience of ability to build relationships with direct team, peers and functional leads
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles/processes
  • Lean Six Sigma experience
