Junior Engineer - Life Sciences - Carlow - 11-Month Contract

With worldwide demand for their life-changing oncology treatment increasing; one of our global pharmaceutical clients is looking for a Junior Engineer to join their team to support multiple capital projects taking place onsite in Leinster.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a state-of-the art fill-finish facility and the company’s first stand-alone vaccine and biologics plant outside the US. 


Role Summary:
  • Provide effective support to the Maintenance Department in all aspects of maintenance across multiple fields, including Engineering, Activity Planning, Training, Safety, Quality and Cost. The Junior Engineer will identify and produce department metrics, help to manage the training requirements, update SOPs, and provide support to the sustaining engineering function within the IPT. 
  • Develop and maintain a training versatility chart. Maintain the Planning schedule for training-based activities. 
  • Support and assist with the coordination of maintenance planning and preventative maintenance through completion of planned and emergency work orders, calibrations, PMs etc.  Assist with the documentation of all maintenance work, for example small projects, preventative maintenance activities and parts used etc.
  • Learn to develop detailed shutdown plans & schedule with all stakeholders and track and report on progress during shutdown execution.
  • Establish and effectively manage relevant information management systems, develop reports, projects, timelines and correspondence utilising many different computerised systems. Use standard systems including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP and various company and industry specific software for planning, document tracking, work order entry/tracking, procurement, manufacturing entry/reporting, etc.  Learn how to ensure that maintenance order processing, material refurbishment are completed. 


Requirements:
  • Preferably the candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in a similar role within a production maintenance / engineering org of a manufacturing facility (preferably GMP).
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Understand instrumentation, mechanical and electrical maintenance works.
  • Experienced in how read P&ID’s; interpret vendor documentation and follow all site policies and SOPs.
  • Have experience in working on Maintenance Systems i.e., CMMS (preferably SAP), CCMS,
  • Typically Trade Qualified/bachelor’s degree or equivalent, ideally in a related Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • i.e., a national craft certificate in a mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation discipline (Level 6 on the QQI).
  • Level 7 or 8 degree in an engineering or science discipline
