Award winning Biopharmaceutical client have a contract requirement for an experienced Materials Scientist to work on the technical transfer and material qualification.
Joining the Manufacturing Sciences Team you will support the technical transfer and the commercial manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals within this cell culture facility (MPCC).
Materials Scientist Responsibilities:
- Support the Global Materials Science group in the technical transfer of materials including raw materials (including compendial and non-compendial materials), excipients and single-use systems utilised for commercial manufacturing operations.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for materials in support of biopharmaceutical manufacturing applications.
- Be a key contributor to a dynamic and highly technical global team.
- Build close collaborations with Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Groups (assurance and control), Supply Chain, Procurement and Analytical Development groups.
- Support materials technology transfer activities for new product transfers to the site
- Single-use systems and raw materials SME– including specification generation, extractable & leachable (BPOG) and chemical compatibility risk assessment authoring
- Author raw technical material evaluations including risk assessments in approved quality documentation systems
- Author and manage change controls from initiation to implementation
- Writing risk assessments
- Material Technical Assessments to support material qualification/material validation
- MSc. in Materials Science/Chemistry preferred with at least 2 years industrial experience or BSc. degree with at least 4-6 years industrial experience.
- Strong background in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry is essential with strong knowledge of cGMP practices and documentation compliance requirements
- Strong background in technical writing with experience in quality risk management practices and documentation
- Demonstrated experience in materials technical transfer activities i.e. upstream/downstream raw materials and single use technology applications, used in biopharmaceutical operations
- Demonstrated experience in change control management
- Experience in the application of extractable and leachable risk analysis, chemical compatibility risk analysis, microbial control risk analysis
- Candidates must be flexible and self-motivated and possess a high degree of initiative. Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail is necessary.
