With 12 years and four different roles under her belt, Caroline O’Sullivan’s journey through Quanta has been a long and successful one. Falling into recruitment by chance, she’s found her niche in a career that allows her to flex her interpersonal skills and set – and achieve – both personal and professional goals. Here’s her story:
“My experience before Quanta was all hospitality-based”
In her previous life working in bars, restaurants and hotels in both the UK and Spain, Caroline honed skills in communication and customer service. She was never sure what direction her career would take, but when an acquaintance suggested she speak to Quanta about a job in recruitment, we decided to find out more. Recruitment had never been an option for Caroline, but after realising she could kickstart a career where she would speak to different people every day while being rewarded for her efforts, she realised it was a perfect fit. Coupled with a close-knit team of hard-working, friendly people, the Quanta environment has seen Caroline thrive.
“I started in what is now a Delivery Executive role, then worked my way up”
After cutting her teeth in what was then a resourcing role, Caroline transitioned into an account management position before taking on the world of sales. From there, she became Global Business Manager for our Life Sciences department, heading up a team of direct reports. After taking maternity leave to focus on her young family, Caroline returned to the business to find the life sciences sector absolutely booming, creating fantastic opportunities for her to grow the function. She benefited from Quanta’s high standard of internal training upon her return, with refresher courses ensuring she felt confident and up-to-date. It wasn’t long before she had achieved the record for the most contractors out working for Quanta.
“My role is heavily focused on building relationships with our key clients”
Caroline works closely with managers, directors and contractors within life sciences, particularly those in Ireland. She’s been the go-to recruitment professional for Ireland big build projects for many years, developing an extensive network of contacts that ensures she can identify and attract the right people for the right projects.
“Ireland is a booming market for life sciences”
Ireland has well and truly cemented its status as one of the most prominent life sciences hubs in the world, which has created a plethora of job opportunities for skilled professionals in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. We’re anticipating the Irish market is only going to get busier as more investment rolls in and international organisations make Ireland their European hub. This will not only lead to more job creation in general within the country, but will also see candidates have even more choice on the projects, technologies and clients that work with.
Typical roles Caroline recruits for tend to be focused around new build projects, with responsibilities in project controls, procurement, project management, IT, validation and CQV.
