Brexit: Quanta “business as usual” at present

I thought would take a moment to write about the referendum that took place last Thursday. I have to say, the result was a surprise, even to those who voted in the ‘Leave’ camp! But that’s the great thing about democracy, it sometimes brings an unexpected result. Everyone is now saying ‘what next’ and there are a lot of people who will be worried and concerned about this turn of events. That is understandable… change brings risk and risk makes us worry, especially when we have a change of this magnitude. When change does occur there is normally a clear alternative, e.g. when a general election takes place. Now though we have change that takes us all into uncharted waters and hence that will create an even greater amount of worry and concern.

At Quanta, we are currently undertaking work across 15 country boundaries, many of them within the EU, and we engage with contract staff from many of these locations. Whilst all this change is taking place our view is to adhere to our core values and to continue to deliver our services to the best of our ability. We will of course seek advice and provide guidance where necessary. Eventually the path forward will become clearer and everyone will adapt to the ‘new world’.

Whilst change brings risk it can also create new opportunities but for the moment nothing really changes, apart from the exchange rates of course!

Over the next few weeks and months the politicians will continue their negotiations and eventually the trading future of the UK will become clearer. In the meantime, and for many months to come, our clients have projects to implement and businesses to run. The multi-national team at Quanta are really focused on these objectives and until we hear otherwise, its ‘business as usual’.

If you have any specific concerns created by these recent events that affect your work then you are welcome to share these with the team here at Quanta. We are keeping in close contact with our professional advisors and when further information comes through concerning matters such as travel and work permits, we will communicate this with you.
