Carlo Milone has been working in recruitment for eight years, finding his niche in renewable energy at Quanta. He’s enjoyed considerable success within the business and is an integral part in helping to expand our renewable offering. He spoke to us about his journey through the business:

“I joined Quanta as I was looking for a new sector and a new challenge”

Before joining Quanta, Carlo spent four years at another recruitment company generating new business within the oil and gas sector. When the oil and gas price went down, Carlo decided to look for a new sector to specialise in and continue to build his profile within recruitment. At the time, Quanta already had a renewable energy platform in place and its strong reputation within the industry made it an appealing choice for Carlo.

“I was tasked with developing a new subsector”

Carlo’s abilities were identified early at Quanta, and he was approached to build the heavy lift subsector within renewables. This was a new area for the business and there wasn’t previously anyone with this skillset, but Carlo had immediate success which also saw him take on responsibility for some of Quanta’s largest operators within renewable energy. Now, he’s been promoted into a management role, introduced to improve efficiency, productivity and net profits through the effective management and control of resources.

“I soon had the opportunity to develop my management skills”

Carlo’s sales success saw him take on additional responsibilities, and this progression naturally expanded to the management of consultants. Now, Denis is overseeing heavy lift, with Carlo able to devote more time to exploring new business avenues and growing renewables as a whole. He says that people management was always a priority for his developing career, taking immense satisfaction from seeing people develop and succeed. With the heavy lift and fabrication subsectors continuing to grow at pace, Carlo is eager to expand his team and eventually address other business avenues in order to take on more of a strategic, long-term planning role.

“I love Quanta’s flexibility and openness”

The flexible nature of Quanta means that the business is open to ideas, which helps to drive the business forward. The family feel of the business – and the fact that it’s privately owned – means that there are fewer restrictions and more freedom around suggesting and developing new business ideas. Carlo also enjoys the friendly environment throughout the office, where socialising is encouraged and there’s the understanding that everyone in the business is valuable and contributes to success. Unlike the ‘dog-eat-dog’ attitude of some other recruitment agencies, Carlo says Quanta is supportive from the top down.

“My efforts have been recognised and I have been rewarded”

As well as the flexibility, opportunity to travel and build up a part of the business, Carlo appreciates the way Quanta has recognised his hard work and allowed him to develop within the business. The Fast Track training has helped his progression, with sessions on leadership and people management ensuring he’s in the best position to develop his team and achieve success.

“I’ve had many highlights with Quanta so far”

So far in 2018 Carlo has topped the leader board for securing the most business throughout the year, a milestone which he is rightfully proud of. He also won Salesperson of the Year in 2016, which was just his second year of selling.
