Celebrating Debbie's 10th Anniversary at Quanta

We’re celebrating a brilliant milestone this month as Debbie Lloyd-Smith reaches her 10th anniversary at Quanta. Debbie's work over the last ten years has been pivotal to the growth of Quanta and we owe much of our success to the coaching that she has delivered. We sat down with Debbie to ask her a few questions about life at Quanta and what she's enjoyed most in her time here.

Why did you join Quanta?

When I joined Quanta, they were looking for a trainer, and I had recruitment experience, so we were a great match. At the time they were a smaller company, and they just came across as friendly, family-run and very staff orientated. It wasn’t the sales role that I was used to, so I was attracted by the new challenge. The whole process happened really quickly and before I knew it, I was part of the brilliant Quanta team.

What is your role at Quanta and what do you love most about it?

My role has evolved over the years; initially I was brought in to help not only with training and coaching but anywhere that they needed me - including promotion and salary conversations. However, now that the team has grown and has more structure, I have focused more on people’s personal development and group training. I deliver their fast-track programmes, ad-hoc training sessions, one-to-one coaching and much more. I help from inductions all the way through to the leadership programmes, helping team members build on their skills and grow both professionally and personally.

What I love the most has to be the people! Everyone is different and every experience with the team members is different, and that’s what I really enjoy.

What has kept you Quanta for the last 10 years?

What has kept me is seeing people grow and the company building on its success each year. As a coach I just love that ‘lightbulb’ moment or when people are having difficulties and they overcome them. Watching them grow through the company, gain promotions, and evolve their skillset motivates me to continue my work. Quanta’s vision for growth is an ethos that I have truly bought into and want to be a part of for years to come.

I also appreciate that Quanta takes the time to celebrate all of our achievements with some brilliant trips and functions that are just so much fun to get involved in.

What is your proudest moment?

There are two moments actually; the first is the element of being involved in their vision and values piece for 2014. That is now the foundation for their recruitment strategy and provides an outline for where the company is heading. The second has to be the training award that we won in 2018. We travelled down to Kensington Palace to receive the award and even got to meet the Princess Royal. It was a special occasion for me and our team.

I have worked with Debs for nearly 6 years’ now and she is an asset to Quanta! She is passionate about everything she does, she is a great listener and extremely hard-working.

Debs has been a great support to staff over the years creating and delivering new training material and she is always there to offer support and advice whether that is during a SMART time or even a call on her day off! Most recently, I have worked alongside Debs in the Learning & Development team and she has been an amazing team mate to work with! Happy 10 years Debs and roll on the next 10! | Emma Fowler

Where have you seen the company values in action?

I see them every day; the one team ethos is just something that rolls off the tongue now and the way we all pull together as a group is just fantastic. Now that we recruit against our values, we get it right as soon as new members come through the door. Everyone is on the same page and has a brilliant attitude, which results in a great working environment.

I have had the pleasure of working alongside Debs for 10 years now (time flies!) She has provided award winning coaching, development and training across the whole company and she is hugely responsible for many colleagues’ success. Debs has been an incredible support over the years – not just professionally but personally to many. Do you have any advice for someone who is thinking of joining Quanta?

If you have good people skills and you want to be able to influence your income, experience career progression and investment in you as an individual, then Quanta is the perfect place for you. Now that Quanta is beginning to expand even further, the opportunities in the future will continue to grow.
