Data Engineer - Swindon - Permanent 

Data Engineer role in Wiltshire with an international client that's developing a cloud-based platform and infrastructure capable of cleaning, transforming and efficiently storing data. This perm role can start asap following a two stage interview process and can onboard remotely if needed.

In the role you will:

  • Take full ownership to design, implement and maintain optimal data pipeline infrastructure including parsing, cleansing and wrangling of diverse and large datasets
  • Manage rapid prototyping and implementation of solutions aiding the client's main activities
  • Build processes and automated workflows that support data transformation as well as tools for handling various data types
  • Develop and operate analytical models together with Data Scientists and Analysts
  • Support colleagues to up-skill on Data Engineering techniques and train them to multiply knowledge across the teams
  • Be the responsible contact person for maintaining data sets and associated meta data (data steward)

You will have:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Python, R and other data science technologies and understanding of other programming languages (preferably C# and Java)
  • Proficiency with distributed compute platforms such as Spark, Dask or Hadoop
  • Proven knowledge in working with timeseries and forecast data
  • Experience with AWS (Sagemaker, EC2, S3, Lambda, EMR, etc.) and Container technology
  • Skills in web development stacks (MEAN, LAMP, Django, Flask etc.) and CI/CD tools
  • Experience of implementing and working with data catalogues, metadata management and data virtualisation is highly desirable
  • Understanding of Tableau and experience with embedding Tableau dashboards in web apps.
  • Ability to travel to the other client sites in London and possibly Germany.
