Translational Bioinformatics Scientist – Biopharmaceuticals – 12 Month Contract – Belgium

We are looking for an experienced Translational Bioinformatics Scientist for a fantastic 12-month contract based in Belgium.

Working with our client, a global biopharmaceutical organisation committed to improving the lives of people afflicted with neurological and immunological disease, you will be supporting their therapeutic ambitions in epilepsy, neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation.

Translational Bioinformatics Scientist Responsibilities:
  • Undertake analysis and biological interpretation of complex molecular data from patient samples, in vivo / ex vivo animal models.
  • Use the following to address questions within the focus biological area: What's the good market? What's the good marker?
  • Focus on the insight generation from candidates.
  • Unlock mechanistic insights from transcriptomic and metabolomic profiling of patient samples, perturbations of patient-derived cell systems and in vivo / ex vivo animal models.
  • Enrich company’s understanding of disease aetiology to inform new targets and drug mechanism of action to expedite preclinical research.
About you:
  • At least MSc level in biology/bioinformatics/computer science
  • Ability to work independently and deliver against deadlines
  • Good problem solving and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •  Proficient programming in R and/or Python with ability to work and program in Linux/Unix environments
  • Be thoroughly versed with statistical concepts, data mining, analysis and visualization of biological data types
  •  Experience of implementing and executing NGS pre-processing and analysis pipelines, preferably in a parallelised cloud environment i.e. DNA Nexus
