Pete’s new role as Ørsted’s Account Manager

Pete was the first person at Quanta to have a sole focus on permanent recruitment. Over his last three years working here, he has helped us grow this area of the life sciences division, but he was looking for a new challenge. When Pete was offered the opportunity to become the Ørsted Account Manager he jumped at the chance. He moved over to our renewable energy division and in just a few months he’s already seen some big successes. We spoke to Pete to hear about his time at Quanta and what he’s most looking forward to in his new role.

When did you join Quanta?

I joined Quanta in October 2017. Before then, I had worked in a few recruitment roles, but I was on the lookout for a company that was the right fit for me. I was aware of Quanta through mutual connections and after I conducted my research, I decided to apply for an open position. As soon as I walked in for my first interview, I immediately got a good feeling about Quanta. There were good vibes at the office, and I knew it was the right business for me. I’ve been in recruitment for six years now, but what makes Quanta different from my previous roles are the interesting markets we work in. When I was a part of the life sciences division, I got to see our business work with large vaccine companies like Pfizer. Now I’m working in renewable energy, and it’s really great to be a part of an ever-growing market.

What made you decide to work in recruitment?

Before my first recruitment job, I was looking for a software developer role. I have a degree in computer science, so this seemed like a natural career path. But then I looked into IT recruitment, and the next thing I knew, I was helping other candidates find their dream job but utilising my technical knowledge. So, you could say that I fell into recruitment. I enjoyed that it was fast-paced and that I got to speak to different people each day who were always so grateful. Finding the right recruitment company can be difficult, but I know for sure that Quanta suits my personality. I needed the right environment to thrive, and Quanta gave me this.

Why did you make the move from life sciences to renewable energy?

I’d been doing permanent recruitment for three years, and I am proud of what I achieved in this time. I won Permanent Sales Person of the Year, and helped to bring on a number of new clients and re-establish partnerships with old clients also, but I was ready for a new challenge. I saw this move into renewable energy as a chance to add something to my skillset and work with a globally recognised company. Really, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. This makes me the first salesperson in the company to move from life sciences to renewable energy, and I’m in this unique position where I can see how both sides of the business work.

Can you explain your role as the account manager for Ørsted?

Being the Account Manager for Ørsted means that I am the go-to person. Ørsted has been ranked as the most sustainable energy company in the world for three years running, so it’s a really exciting career move. With a 29-year history, Quanta is well-established in recruitment, meaning that we can make the decision to work with the companies we believe in.

Quanta has been working with Ørsted for 10 years now and we’ve built a good relationship with them over the years, but I want to make sure that we become their top supplier of talent. Though I’m focusing on just one client, we work with them across various locations in Europe, Asia and America and my goal is to expand our footprint with Ørsted. This is an opportunity to work more closely with our client and see the bigger picture.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Establishing new relationships with clients and building something that I can be proud of. My plan is to nurture our existing relationship with Ørsted and lay the foundations for building new ones. Because ultimately, this allows our candidates to have access to more opportunities.

What makes Quanta different from other recruitment agencies?

I’ve worked in the Recruitment industry for a while now, and I can whole-heartedly say Quanta operates at the highest level. Quanta looks after every single candidate and employee, and this is a level of care that I’ve not seen in previous roles. More importantly, every person we work with is valued just as much as the next.
