From starting his professional life as a personal trainer, to working his way through the recruitment industry to become one of Quanta’s most treasured Principle Consultants – Suraj has had a varied and exciting career, and we predict many bright years ahead. Here, we catch up with Suraj and learn about his journey so far at Quanta and what he is looking forward to in the future.

Tell us a little more about your role

I am a Principle Consultant within our Life Sciences division. My role is to mainly support myUK, Europe and Ireland based clients with their capital project resourcing and contract requirements. Day to day, I am the face of Quanta for our clients, communicating regularly about upcoming projects and planning how we can support their staffing requirements. It is my role to then communicate this to the delivery team to ensure we are resourcing the best candidates and best talent on the market for our clients’ needs.

How has your role at Quanta developed?

I actually started my Quanta career within a sales role as a Principle Consultant. A lot of our team start their journey here as a Delivery Executive if they are new to the world of recruitment, but I had been in the industry for a few years.

After being given a really thorough induction to the company, our industries and processes, I was quickly put on a fantastic Quanta training course ‘Fast Track to Sales’ to introduce me fully to the role of a Principle Consultant. It was a bit of a whirlwind as I started fully remote back in March 2021, but from day one I have been so impressed with the way that Quanta integrated me into the business and how the training was delivered virtually. I immediately felt like a part of the team. Coming to head office after 6 months working remotely was a really weird and wonderful experience.

I’ve recently completed the MAPSTAR training which I found really beneficial. I’ve been on various sales training programmes in the past which were all very generic, but MAPSTAR homed in on relevant and practical ways to build my business winning skillset, including networking and LinkedIn tips. I was even crowned MAPSTAR champion! I think the fact that I was put through two training courses within 18 months of being at the company really shows how serious Quanta are about investing in their people. And thanks to their support, I’ve recently smashed my yearly targets and reached my next promotion!

What do you love most about recruitment

I think the best thing about recruitment is the fact that you are building your own business within a business, and the clients and deals that you make are your own achievements. I love having autonomy over my role and the comfort of having a supportive company like Quanta behind me makes a massive difference. Another great thing about recruitment is that every day is different, and you get to speak to and meet lots of new people. It is challenging at times, but also very rewarding.

What is life at Quanta like?

The best thing about Quanta really is their one team ethos. There’s never a worry that you can’t talk to your colleagues no matter what level of seniority they are. It was one of their biggest selling points for me, because I could feel even in my interview they genuinely cared about and valued me. In no other recruitment interview have I been asked about my personal life, but at Quanta they took a real interest.

I really appreciate the flexibility that we are given. The hybrid working policy works for me and Quanta understands what it takes to strike a healthy work life balance. My team of colleagues are also excellent, always willing to help and ready to integrate all different units of the business. Quanta also show real generosity and throw amazing events and company trips. I think they really show a commitment to treating their staff well because they know that a happy team will perform at their very best.

What does the future look like for Quanta?

The company is constantly growing and at the moment there is a huge focus on our office opening in the US. But other aspects of the business and the countries around the world we are involved with also continue to develop. For example, Ireland is such a massive location for us in Life Sciences and there are no signs of it slowing down, but with our fantastic contracts and compliance team it is easy to track candidates in countries around the world and our horizons continue to broaden. I am just making sure that I can bring in as much business and as many clients as I can to my platform so Quanta can continue their growth.
