MEP Project Manager - Zurich, Switzerland (remote working from Germany available) - 15-Months 

Are you a MEP Project Manager looking for your next contract assignment? Our client, one of the top 5 hyperscale data centre providers across the globe, needs the expertise of a MEP Project Manager for a new equipment upgrade project in Zurich.

With a global footprint over 5 continents and 60 countries, this is an exciting opportunity to join a truly international organisation responsible for providing some of the world’s most recognisable scalable data centres. This forward-thinking data centre provider has plans to double the number of facilities in the EMEA region by 2025.

This is an opportunity for you to work client-side with an ambitious organisation in the data centre market.

Project scope:
  • Steel platforms for the equipment to sit on
  • Installation of environmentally friendly fixtures to generators
  • Installation of filters and silencers to the equipment
  • Project Value: 20 million Swiss Francs
  • 183-day rule and utilising an EU local freelancing company (working 2 days on site in Zurich, working remotely 3 days per week) OR a local Swiss solution, or happy to set up via our local payroll partner

Experience Required:
  • Previous experience of working at a project manager level
  • At least 2 years of DC experience, at least 5 years of construction or MEP experience
  •  Solid experience within mechanical and electrical engineering (mechanical would be slightly desirable)
  • Educational background / degree in mechanical and electrical engineering would be desirable
  • The role is client side and managing an on-site general contractor
  • You will be responsible managing the contractor onsite and overseeing the equipment upgrades and installations and will provide site presence at least 2 days per week
  • Duties - Tracking project progress, managing project budget, managing virtual team of design engineers, commissioning, documentation tracking and keeping, handover.
  • This project will be carried out in a live environment, so they are looking for a Project Manager who has experience of managing these types of  operational / live facilities.
  • Must have experience of overseeing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must have the appreciation of H&S and understand CDM regulations in addition they will need to manage the MOP procedure for the company.
  • Must have experience of interfacing with end customers and have the tact and diplomacy skills to manage expectations.  
  • Working autonomously so will need to be a self-starter
  • Capability of managing multiple projects at a time – you will manage this larger project in Zurich and 2-3 smaller projects in Germany
  • Availability to either be based in Switzerland full time (2 days on site, 3 days remote) / OR be based in Frankfurt, Germany and travel to Zurich 2 days a week.
