‘New Year New Job’ may seem like a cliché, but according to the latest data from Indeed, the number of people searching for a new job spiked in January – with increases in the number of jobseekers seen across Indeed’s European sites.

The largest increases in jobseekers were seen in France, up 71.8% in the January peak compared to the job site’s 2016 average, followed by Ireland (increasing by 66.6%), the Netherlands (63.7%) and the UK (63.6%). Growth was also seen in Belgium, Germany and the United States.

When looking more closely at specific roles, it seems that engineers are looking for a change, with Indeed searches for engineering roles towards the end of 2016 increasing by over 270% in Germany and 98.1% growth in searches for process engineer jobs in Ireland.
