We’ve experienced enormous business growth recently, both in terms of the markets we recruit for and the team members we’ve brought on board. What makes us different from other recruitment agencies?

Quanta welcomes recruitment professionals at all levels, from those fresh out of school looking to make their first steps in the industry through to experienced recruiters with years of expertise. With 17 years’ experience within drug safety and pharmacovigilance recruitment, Kathryn Taylor is well and truly at the experienced end of the recruitment spectrum. She spoke to us about making the move to Quanta – something she found daunting, but ultimately incredibly rewarding.

“I wanted to do something different and try something new”

After nearly two decades with one recruitment agency, Kathryn was entrenched in her markets and fully committed to the drug safety market space. However, she was ready for a new direction and a fresh outlook. She wanted to take her recruitment career somewhere local where she could be autonomous and really own the drug safety recruitment function, and she says Quanta had everything she was looking for.

“I didn’t want to travel to London, but I wanted to work somewhere high-achieving”

Kathryn says the first – and main – thing that appealed to her about Quanta was the sheer number of awards the company has won. She says this isn’t something she’d seen in the industry before, and pointed to Quanta being a results-driven company that achieves to a high level.

After identifying an opportunity for Quanta to expand into the drug safety space, Kathryn sent through her CV and began discussions with Georgia and the rest of the internal recruitment team. With in-depth market knowledge and desire to drive more growth within Quanta’s life sciences team she secured a position as Principal Consultant, where she has been thriving since October.

“Quanta allowed me to come in with a blank canvas and build up drug safety from scratch”

With an established life sciences division already in place at Quanta, Kathryn was keen to build on that success and not only grow Quanta’s service offering, but also develop her own career. Within three weeks, she’d made a placement and there are already several client visits lined up for January, with plenty of market interest to keep Kathryn busy.

“It’s outstanding what Quanta has achieve in a short space of time”

Quanta is driven by goals and success, and Kathryn says this comes through in everything the business does. Not only is it a high achieving business, but it’s genuinely a nice place to work, with a ‘One Team’ ethos that permeates through the organisation. Kathryn says this balance of achievement with a positive work environment is quite unusual in the industry, and it hooked her in right from day one.

“Quanta is incredibly supportive and unrestrictive”

Kathryn says Quanta’s willingness to have her lead a new subsector is just one example of a business that goes above and beyond to support its people. She says the culture is one that allows people to work autonomously and without micro-management, giving team members the space to achieve together. Team members are expected to do well, and are given all the tools, training and support they need to do so.

“The development opportunities are amazing”

After taking the job at Quanta, Kathryn went through a bespoke four-week induction that ran through Quanta’s processes and procedures and helped familiarise her with the business. With more training coming up, smart time with dedicated Quanta trainers and the open-ended offer to pick up new or repeat courses and sessions at any time, Kathryn is excited to continue to learn and develop, even after 17 years in the industry. After taking a break between roles, Kathryn said she could have felt a bit out of touch, but the Quanta team made sure she felt secure and ready to hit the ground running.

“My manager is lovely – grounded, rational and focused”

Andrew Pieri, Kathryn’s line manager, has the kind of management style Kathryn really responds to. She says he’s rational, calming and incredibly supportive, and – along with the rest of the team – helps to make coming into work every day a joy. It’s a low-stress environment where team members are motivated to do well and encouraged to pursue new ideas and set new challenges for themselves – Kathryn says there is no “no” button, and the whole businesses is set up to achieve more together.

“To anyone interested in joining to Quanta: Do it! Have a chat with us. You won’t regret it”

Kathryn acknowledges it can be scary for established recruiters to move to new agencies, but says the transition for her was made easy thanks to Quanta’s warm and welcoming environment. With a commitment to support team members at all stages of their careers to continue to develop, grow and move in new directions, it’s a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation that celebrates success together.
