What is renewable energy?

Renewable energy is energy collected from renewable resources such as wind, solar, heat (also known as geothermal), rain, tides and waves (also known as hydro) and energy from natural materials (biomass). Unlike fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas which have a limited supply, renewable energy sources are not only far better for the environment, but they will also never run out. Wind energy is currently the largest renewable energy source in the UK.
